CIRCUS FLORA: Catch the flying Children AND the Flying Adults!
One of the great rewards and joys of teaching circus is to see our students be successful, whether it is the first time they can juggle or do a back handspring, the sparkle in their eyes when they see themselves in the mirror in their first circus costume or watching them as the audience applauds for them.
From May 28-June 28 Circus Harmony is once again part of Circus Flora. Our artistic/executive director, Jessica Hentoff, started with them twenty-nine years ago when they first hired her Hentoff & Hoyer Double Trapeze Act. Jessica still makes a guest appearance juggling in the show.
In 1989, the late and wonderful, David Balding, Circus Flora’s founder and artistic director, asked Jessica to form the St. Louis Arches. Twenty six years later, at the preview for Circus Flora’s new show, “One Summer on Second Street”, the current St. Louis Arches got a standing ovation, long time student Claire Kuciejczyk Wallenda-Zoppé walked the wire as one of The Flying Wallendas and two other illustrious Arch alums, Sidney Iking Bateman and Melvin Diggs presented their professional act as adult performers with Circus Flora.
Catch the show before June 8 to see Iking and Melvin who are heading to Romania to continue their world tour with Les 7 Doigts de la Main’s Cuisine and Confessions (http://7doigts.com/en/shows/24-cuisine-confessions) . And/or come catch another amazing alum, Terrance ‘T-Roc’ Robinson, in his new act, Duo Tux (http://www.duotux.com/) with Circus Flroa June 9 – June 28. In any case, catch Circus Harmony’s flying children and flying adults at Circus Flora. Get your tickets at www.circusflora.org
